Do the most important part of your workout while you are fresh. If strength is the priority, lift first. If running, cycling, or another endurance goal is the priority, do that first. For general health, either order can work.
Match the order to the day
| Your main goal | A practical order |
|---|---|
| Improve a squat, press, or other lift | Warm up, strength, then easy cardio |
| Improve running or cycling performance | Warm up, goal cardio, then optional strength |
| General fitness | Use the order you can perform consistently |
| Learn a technical skill | Practice it early, before fatigue |
Hard cardio can tire the muscles needed for lifting. Hard strength work can also change running or cycling quality. The effect depends on intensity, duration, fitness, and how much time separates the sessions.
When both must fit one session
Keep the second part shorter or easier. A strength-focused day might include the planned lifts followed by 10 to 20 minutes of comfortable cycling. An endurance-focused day might include the key run followed by two simple strength movements. Avoid pairing a very hard leg workout with demanding intervals unless the plan has a clear reason.
Separate sessions when performance matters
If your schedule allows, place hard strength and hard endurance sessions on different days or several hours apart. This can improve the quality of each. You do not need this separation for an easy walk after lifting or a short warm-up before it.
Adults can gain health benefits from both aerobic and muscle-strengthening activity. The CDC recommends working toward at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity weekly plus muscle-strengthening work on two days, with options for different combinations (CDC guidance). The guidance does not require one universal order.
How Rizanah helps
In the Rizanah mobile app, cardio sessions can record time, distance, pace, effort, and notes. Train also shows your strength-workout schedule and history, so you can review both types of activity before deciding what to increase. The app records what you do; it does not decide that a fasted or difficult session is safe.

The main idea
Put the priority first, keep the second part appropriate, and separate two demanding sessions when you need high quality from both. Consistent work matters more than arguing about one order for everyone.
