A useful post-workout meal contains protein, carbohydrate, fluid, and foods you can digest comfortably. The exact timing matters less when you eat enough across the day and another meal is already close.

Five complete examples

  1. Grilled halal chicken, rice, roasted vegetables, yogurt, and water.
  2. Salmon, potatoes, salad, fruit, and water.
  3. Lentil pasta with tomato sauce, vegetables, and cheese made with verified enzymes.
  4. Tofu stir-fry with rice and fruit.
  5. Eggs, whole-grain toast, yogurt, berries, and water.

How much protein?

The ISSN position stand describes total daily protein of about 1.4 to 2.0 grams per kilogram as sufficient for most exercising adults. It also reports that servings around 20 to 40 grams can effectively stimulate muscle protein synthesis, depending on the person and context (ISSN protein position stand). These numbers are ranges, not a requirement for every meal or every medical condition.

Timing in real life

Eat within a few hours when practical. If you finished a workout shortly before dinner, dinner is the recovery meal. If your next meal is far away, use a snack such as yogurt and fruit, milk and a sandwich, or hummus and pita.

After an evening workout, choose a familiar portion that does not disturb sleep. During a fast, wait until eating and drinking are religiously permitted, then prioritize rehydration and a tolerable meal.

How Rizanah helps

In the Rizanah mobile app, Meals lets you log food, see protein and other nutrition totals, plan meals, save meals, browse or create recipes, and keep pantry and grocery lists. Foods and recipes can display halal guidance, including labels that tell you when an item needs checking. Those labels support your review, but they do not replace current certification or the exact package information.

Visit Rizanah to find the mobile app for iOS and Android.

The main idea

Eat a normal meal with protein, carbohydrate, produce, and fluid. Use timing to fit your day, while total daily intake remains the larger priority.
