After Ramadan, food, fluid, sleep, work, and workout timing change again. Even if you feel energetic, give your body one or two weeks to rebuild normal workout volume and reduce unnecessary soreness.
Use a two-week return
| Week | Load | Sets | Effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| First week | About 80 to 90 percent of recent familiar load | About two thirds of normal sets | Leave 3 or 4 good repetitions |
| Second week | Increase only if recovery is good | Add selected sets | Leave 2 or 3 good repetitions |
These are practical starting ranges, not rigid percentages. If you maintained normal lifting through Ramadan and recovered well, you may need less reduction. If you paused, were ill, traveled, or lost sleep, begin more conservatively.
Keep familiar movements
Use the exercises you practiced before or during Ramadan. Avoid testing maximum lifts, adding many new exercises, and restoring every set on the same day. Delayed soreness commonly follows unfamiliar or lengthening muscle actions and often peaks one to three days later (review). Wait to see that response before adding more.
Reset food, fluid, and sleep gradually
Return to daytime drinking and regular meals without treating Eid food as a mistake that needs punishment. Place protein across meals, include carbohydrate for demanding work, and restore a steady sleep opportunity. Body weight can shift with water, stored carbohydrate, and meal timing, so one post-Ramadan reading is not a verdict.
Review before progressing
Check performance, soreness, pain, sleep, mood, and normal daily function. Add one variable at a time, such as a set or a small load. Persistent pain, fainting, unusual weakness, or other health symptoms need assessment rather than a harder plan.
How Rizanah helps
In the Rizanah mobile app, fasting settings can follow prayer-based or custom eating windows. Meals includes food and water logging, while Train keeps your weekly workout plan and completed workout history. Rizanah does not read sleep or symptoms and does not automatically change a workout because you are fasting, so you remain responsible for choosing a safe time and adjusting or stopping when needed.
Visit Rizanah to find the mobile app for iOS and Android.
The main idea
Use familiar exercises, restore sets before chasing records, watch soreness for several days, and treat Eid and schedule changes as part of the plan rather than a problem to punish.
